Your consideration of building an ADU and your willingness to
contact HPP CARES Team is truly an honor. The HPP CARES team is
committed to being transparent and upfront with all its
participants. There is a great deal of excitement surrounding the
reopening of the portal TBD by the CALHFA.
(CALHFA PROVIDERS ADU Grant Program | CalHFA)
Unfortunately, the number of available grants is less than 150 grant
opportunities. Our current preference is not to participate in
accepting applications and gathering consumer information. This
would fuel false narratives that will leave homeowners anxiously
awaiting grants yet again for funding that is not available.
For households that applied with our agency on October 29, we will
continue to work from our current waitlist starting TBD by the CALHFA. You are
welcome to join our
notification system
wherein we gather limited information about you, such as your name,
address, and phone number. This is so that we can contact you in the
event new funding becomes available. Please note Governor Newsom has
indicated the State of California is in a budget deficit at this
time. Until we are notified otherwise, we have chosen to pause
accepting new applications. As soon as additional funding becomes
available, we will inform you that the application acceptance
process will begin; at that point, we will request your personal
details. It is appreciated that you have taken the time to
understand why we have chosen not to fuel another wave of
frustration. If you would like to learn more about other
providers' programs, please contact them directly. However, we advise you to ask
questions prior to providing all your personal information. Are
there any ways you can help HPP CARES advocate for more funding? We
invite you to review our
petition
if it falls in line please sign it, and
let us know via email
if you are willing to participate in a call to address the
legislative body overseeing the program.
HPP CARES will continue to offer many resources to future ADU'ers -
for free while we all wait for the Governor and The State to
consider providing additional funding. Educational Webinars (HPP
CARES HOW TO ADU - resuming in TBD by the CALHFA
calendar will be
updated in the coming week)
HPP CARES CDE's accomplishments these past few years have been significant
and all-encompassing; striving to advocate under the National Coalition for
Equities’ umbrella to maintain a powerful community voice among the Federal
and State regulators and major private sector corporations to address public
policy issues, and to focus on the wealth & income inequality affecting
affordable homeownership and small business growth. With the NCFE, HPP CARES
CDE’s outreach efforts have led to an increase in corporate social
responsibility and consumer protection. We have been able to reach more
people, collaborate with more companies, meet with more regulators, all in
the name of helping deserving individuals become sustainable homebuyers,
successful small business owners, protected consumers and empowering
California communities. HPP CARES CDE is at the forefront of helping people
of color become partners in our mission to reduce income and wealth
inequality and build stronger futures for all minority groups.
